Now that I am getting my various websites figured out, this particular one can start to go back to what it was meant to be in the first place, before Facebook, before Twitter, before I used text messaging.

It was meant as a semi-public place on the web that I could say what was on my mind, post photos of things that interested me, and mostly have a writer’s tablet for whatever it was that was on my mind at that particular time.

It’s kind of turned into a catch all for everything…and that was were I got in trouble. I tried to combine my personal stuff with my work stuff, and that went over like a lead balloon. Now I am back to being simpler. Bluebirdsigning.com is my blog.

I will roll out the other stuff as they come along and get cleaned up.

Well, this was interesting experiment…

I decided to just throw open comments for a month or so and see what my database of entries would snare in my seine nets of blather. I was a little suprised by the results.

It caught about 4,000 pieces of spam and 200+ actual posts. Of which, I think about 30 of them are legit.

The big problem has been learning how to sepearate the spam from the eggs.

I think I have a project to sort through. But even some of the spam was interesting, which I found interesting. Here’s the problem, really: With travel and work, I just haven’t had time to learn how to use this new version of WordPress. DOH!

What I think I’m going to do is kind of start all over from scratch. Meaning take the millions of words in my database away, archive them for myself, and then start with something a little more focused.

But my other surprise is that I think some people that commented and read my posts really had some great opinions and insight. It’s just taking me forever to go through it all. I got a little overwhelmed when my month of leaving it on cruise control was up with how many RSS feeds and good comments there were. But, well, it’s almost 10 years old and I figured out there were almost four million words between the two blogs, so maybe I shouldn’t have been so surprised.

It’s strange reading ┬áthe 200 or so “real” comments…these are being that found me somehow. It almost felt intrusive in a bad way. Like: “Get out of my sandbox.” But a big part of this is learning that you can’t just hide out with your sandbox and only play with friends in the back yard. Good lesson for me.

I’ll get the best ones cleaned up and posted with responses.

This blog is definitely not dead or anything…it’s just having a mid-life crises after 10 years about what it wants to be when it grows up.
